A1. Yes. CD-ROM access will be slower than with a multispeed drive.
Q2. Can I run the 1995 ARRL Periodicals CD-ROM from the CD-ROM drive if I don't have enough hard disk space to install the program on my system?
A2. Yes. Instead of running setup.exe from the CD's root directory, run valuemed.exe from the CD's windows subdirectory. You'll be able to see and read all the QST, QEX and NCJ files the program presents. Because a CD-ROM is a read-only device, however, you won't be able to save bookmarks or preferences.
Q3. Will the 1995 ARRL Periodicals CD-ROM work with a 16-color display?
A3. Yes. Color graphics won't look as they should, but you'll otherwise be able to see everything the program can present.
Some users have reported problems opening, viewing or using the zoom
controls with certain graphics. This is usually caused by system resource
limitations. Try reducing the number of open applications, reducing the
number of colors your system is using to 256, and/or reducing your screen
resolution to 640 x 480 pixels.
