"All-Risk" Ham Radio Equipment Insurance Plan

Application Form and Program Brochure

* Antennas, Rotators and Towers Now Covered

Did it ever strike you that your equipment could use more protection?

Besides protection from lightning, this ARRL "All Risk" Ham Radio Equipment Insurance Plan also gives you the protection you need from loss or damage to your amateur station and mobile equipment by theft, accident, fire, flood, tornado, and other natural disasters. You can even insure antennas, rotators and towers!

What would you do without it?

No matter where you live ... you could end up in the middle of a natural disaster. You may not be able to salvage what you had, but with the ARRL sponsored Ham Radio Equipment Insurance Plan you can get the help you need to get back on the air.

This Plan provides protection from the hazards you face and the accompanying costs that can follow from loss or damage to your amateur station and mobile equipment by theft, accident, fire, flood, tornado, and other natural disasters. Antennas rotators and towers can be insured too. And, unlike your homeowner's policy, your equipment is covered if damaged by an earthquake or flood.

You're even covered for the replacement cost of computer software such as disks and tapes including reimbursement of the expense of reprogramming for up to $1,000 per claim if you have computer hardware scheduled on your policy. Computer equipment may include televisions, recorders and other monitoring systems you have as related ham radio accessories.

There's more! Your equipment and accessories are covered in your car as well as your home.

Compare other insurance coverage with the ARRL Plan. You'll find this Plan less expensive with broader coverage than similar plans available ... in fact, the ARRL "All-Risk" Ham Radio Equipment Insurance Plan is one of the most comprehensive policies you can buy.

$6,000,000 in claims have been paid to members like yourself during the life of the ARRL Ham Radio Equipment Insurance Plan!

Helps when you need it most!

What's Covered?

Your mobile and home station equipment is covered on an all risk form which includes fire, lightning, theft, collision, and other accidents and natural hazards. Loss or damage to antennas, towers or rotators is covered. Coverage is also provided for computer software for up to $1,000 AND hardware you have scheduled including related accessories.

Who is eligible?

The ARRL "All-Risk" Ham Radio Equipment Insurance Plan is available to all members of the American Radio Relay League who reside in the United States. Coverage is also available to ARRL affiliated clubs to protect the club's equipment - including club station and repeater equipment.

New Property Coverage

For added property UNDER $1,000 ...if you purchase additional or replacement equipment or take custody of equipment of a type already insured by this policy, it will automatically be protected without any additional premium as long as the total added value does not exceed $1,000 during the policy year. Send no money ...at your next policy renewal date, you will be asked to add all purchases made under $1,000 and your premium will be adjusted appropriately.

For total added property OVER $1,000 ...notify the ARRL Insurance Administrator immediately ...only if your new property is valued over $1,000.

Low Cost Coverage

Because of the economies of centralized administration, the cost of this Plan is much lower than coverage from other sources. Your annual premium is just $1.50 per $100 of replacement cost value (minimum premium is $20). Please add a $7 administration fee to your total premium. For example, if the replacement value of your equipment is worth $3,200, your annual premium is only $48 (plus the $7 fee).

Low Deductible

The Plan's deductible is just $50 for each claim. To assist you even further, the deductible for repairs is just $25 per item with a maximum of $50 per claim.

Exclusions

This Plan does not insure against the usual and customary exclusions such as loss or damage by mechanical or structural breakdown or failure, dishonest acts, wear and tear or damage occasioned by repairing or tuning.

Answers to your important questions

Can I insure my mobile equipment under this Plan?
Yes. Your mobile equipment is protected under this policy. The ARRL "All-Risk" Ham Radio Equipment Insurance Plan provides coverage where the typical automobile insurance policy won't.

Can I insure just part of my equipment?
No. You must insure each piece of equipment including all mobile and home station equipment, and any related ham gear accessories (including antennas, towers and rotators) that are owned or leased by you.

How does the premium from the ARRL Plan compare with other similar coverage?
Other coverage available runs $5 to $8 per $100 of replacement cost value. But, you pay the low annual rate of just $1.50 per $100 of replacement cost value!

If I have a loss, will this Plan pay full replacement costs?
Yes! You will receive the replacement cost or equivalent value of the equipment that is covered - not a depreciated value - as long as your equipment is insured for full replacement cost.

What should I do if I have a claim?
Any claim or situation which may result in a claim, should be reported immediately to The Risk Management Planning Group, Inc. (RMPG), the Plan's authorized claim administrators. They are located at 211 Station Road, Mineola, New York. They have a toll free number, 1-888-767-4492 ext. 192, for reporting claims. The claims adjuster for the ARRL program is Frank Quinn, Property Specialist. Reports via e-mail should be directed to Heather Piciulo at Heather.Piciulo@rmpg.com.

If your claim is due to theft, send a police report to the Claims Administrator at once. Sales receipts for the replaced equipment are required before payment is made unless waived. For repair claims, an estimate of damage must be submitted. Claims resulting from theft or damage to newly acquired property must include a proof of purchase.
